Wow!

We made it to 317 followers!

I’ve been away in Seattle and busy with school so I apologize for the lack of updates! You should expect to see a bunch of pictures of new items that I’m working on for Senshi Matsuri very soon.

That being said…I’ve also decided that once we hit 400 followers there will be another giveaway!

It’s official!

Geekilicious will have a table at the very first Senshi Matsurl NYC on June 30th! I believe the event is already sold out, but I hope some of you tumblrers out there already have your tickets.

I’m am uber excited about this event as Sailor Moon was one of my first fandoms and something I still hold very near and dear to my heart. It’s going to be awesome to meet some fellow moonies.

In addition to the bows above, I will have a few different versions of Sailor Moon and Mini Moon bows. I will also have some jewelry and headbands…maybe even a few sketch cards.

Hope to see you there!

I have been watching a lot of Supernatural lately and wondering why on Earth it has taken me so long to get into this show. It’s fantastic!
I have completely fallen in love with Dean Winchester. Dean Winchester loves pie and whiskey. I also love both of those things so I came up with this treat that I think he would enjoy.

INGREDIENTS:
For the pies
1 refrigerated pie crust
2 Granny Smith apples diced into small cubes
3 tsp of lemon juice
1/2 tsp of pumpkin pie spice (or cinnamon)
1/4 brown sugar
1/4 of pecan pieces
For the caramel:
2/3 cup of brown sugar
1/2 of half and half (or heavy cream)
2 tbsp of butter
1/4 tsp of salt (a maybe a pinch more)
2 tbsp of Jack Daniels
Directions:
Start off making the caramel first.
Heat the sugar in a dry saucepan, swirling until it turns a deep golden brown (about 10 minutes.)

In another pan, melt the half and half, butter and salt together.

Remove sugar pan from heat. Carefully pour butter mixture into sugar stirring constantly. Return to heat and simmer while stirring until everything is incorporated.

Remove from heat again and stir in whiskey. Let cool and preheat your oven to 400.
Bring the pie crust out of the fridge so it warms to room temperature while you peel and dice the Granny Smith apples. They ones I found were huge!

Add them to a bowl along with your pecans, lemon juice, 1/4 of brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Mix…and don’t be afraid to use your hands like I did. It’s more fun that way.

Once your pie crust is room temperature, use a large mug, a small bowl or a large biscuit cutter to make an even number of circles. I was able to get 8 after I squished together the excess and rolled it out again.

Place half of the circles on a greased baking sheet and carefully spoon filling onto each one. I will leave it up to you to decide how much, but of you overstuff it they won’t close! You should be able to gauge it.

On top of each little pile of filling, also drizzle on a teaspoon of your whiskey caramel.

Now place the other circles on top and press shut with your fingers, then press along the edges with a fork. I sprayed each top with a bit of butter flavored cooking spray before sticking them in the oven. An egg wash would work as well.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the edges and tops turn golden brown.

Let them cool and top with ice cream, whipped cream or more caramel…mmmm.
